Dell Technologies and Red Hat are forming a partnership to bring Red Hat Enterprise Linux AI (RHEL AI), a platform built for AI, to Dell PowerEdge servers. This partnership aims to help businesses more easily develop, test, and deploy AI and generative AI models.
The collaboration makes RHEL AI the go-to platform on Dell’s PowerEdge R760xa server. It simplifies AI adoption by offering tested and optimized hardware, including NVIDIA’s accelerated computing technology. With this, businesses can scale their IT systems and run AI applications more efficiently.
RHEL AI combines IBM’s Granite large language models (LLMs), tools from InstructLab for aligning AI models, and a community-driven approach to model development. It comes as a bootable image for server deployments and is included with Red Hat’s OpenShift AI platform, allowing businesses to run models across distributed environments.
The solution will be available on Dell PowerEdge servers starting in Q3 2024. Dell is also offering businesses a chance to try the setup in its global Customer Solution Centers.
Joe Fernandes, Vice President and General Manager, Generative AI Foundation Model Platforms, Red Hat, stated that AI requires significant resources, and this partnership with Dell will give businesses the confidence and flexibility to scale AI-driven innovations.
Senior Vice President of Dell technologies, Arun Narayan, explained that the validation of AI workloads on PowerEdge servers will simplify AI deployment and speed up business growth.

Red Hat and Dell will extend gen AI capabilities for customers with an optimized experience for NVIDIA accelerated computing, including NVIDIA H100 Tensor Core GPUs, with Dell PowerEdge servers and RHEL AI.”
