Cloudflare, a connectivity cloud company, has launched its first AI-powered assistant, Cloudy, designed to streamline security management across its platform. The AI agent, currently in beta preview for two Cloudflare products, aims to automate complex and time-consuming configuration reviews, helping security teams optimise their workflows.
One of the key areas Cloudy enhances is Cloudflare’s Web Application Firewall (WAF), which safeguards applications from threats like SQL injection and cross-site scripting (XSS). Cloudy provides an AI-driven overview of Custom Rules, helping users identify redundant or conflicting rules, optimise execution order, and highlight disabled rules—ultimately reducing manual effort in auditing configurations.

For Cloudflare One, the company’s Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) platform, Cloudy works within Cloudflare Gateway to simplify policy management. By summarising policies in a user-friendly manner, the AI agent enables organisations to quickly identify misconfigurations, enforce security controls, and enhance access management, ensuring compliance and data protection.

Cloudy is built on Cloudflare Workers AI, leveraging large language models (LLMs) to process vast amounts of policy and security data. The ultimate goal is to minimise human error in security configurations while improving efficiency for IT and security teams.
With plans to extend Cloudy’s capabilities across more Cloudflare products, the company is taking a major step in harnessing AI to automate security, optimise performance, and enhance threat protection in the evolving digital landscape.
