Chevron, the energy giant, plans to invest $1 billion in establishing a Global Capability Center (GCC) in Bengaluru. This will be Chevron’s largest innovation centre outside the US.
The Chevron Engineering and Innovation Excellence Center (ENGINE) will be located near Bellandur and aims to hire 600 professionals by the end of 2025, with plans for further expansion. Akshay Sahni will be leading this initiative. He has a background in mechanical engineering from Punjab Engineering College and a PhD from Stanford.

The investment will be spread over five to six years and will support Chevron’s global operations and projects. The centre will handle advanced tasks such as analysing geological data to identify optimal carbon storage sites and using AI to interpret seismic data. Chevron already operates three tech centres in Houston, Texas; Richmond, California; and Aberdeen, Scotland.
