Former Meta COO Sheryl Sandberg is investing in a Bengaluru-based AI startup, Simplismart, as part of a $7 million fundraising round led by Accel. This move showcases her growing interest in the Indian startup ecosystem, particularly in generative AI (GenAI).
Founded by BITS Pilani alumni Amritanshu Jain and Devansh Ghatak, Simplismart offers scalable and cost-effective GenAI solutions to its clients through its high-speed inference engine, available across multiple cloud platforms.

The company previously secured seed funding from Titan Capital, Shastra VC, and First Cheque. Its clients include Mobavenue, Dubverse, and Vodex. Before founding Simplismart, Jain worked in machine learning roles at Oracle and Capillary Technologies, while Ghatak held engineering positions at Google and Avaamo.

Although Sandberg’s investment in Simplismart marks her entry into the Indian startup space, she has previously been a customer of US investment firm Iconiq Capital, known for backing Indian startups like Flipkart. Jain confirmed that Sandberg is not involved in any funding rounds for Simplismart, but Accel has invested in the GenAI firm.
