Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) has officially named B Sairam as its new Chairman and Managing Director, effective immediately. With a professional journey spanning over three decades, Sairam is celebrated for his extensive experience in the fields of mine operations, strategic planning, logistics, and regulatory compliance.

The company, a government-owned coal mining entity, expressed its enthusiasm about the new leadership, stating, “We are delighted to welcome Shri B. Sairam as the Chairman and Managing Director of NCL. He stepped into his new role on Wednesday, bringing with him a rich experience of over 33 years in the coal industry. His expertise covers a broad range of areas, including mine operations, planning, logistics, and regulatory affairs.”

Upon his arrival at NCL’s headquarters for the first time in his new capacity, Sairam was greeted with a ‘Guard of Honour’. He took this opportunity to engage with the functional directors, area general managers, and department heads.

Sairam’s career at Coal India Limited began in 1991, and over the years, he has assumed various leadership positions at South Eastern Coalfields Ltd, Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd., Central Coalfields Ltd., and the CIL Corporate Headquarters. He is an alumnus of NIT Raipur, holding a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mining, and has also earned an Executive PGDM from the NTPC School of Business.
