Arm Holdings has unveiled its first-ever in-house processor, the Arm AGI CPU, marking a historic shift from its traditional model of licensing chip designs to actually producing silicon. The new chip is designed specifically for AI data centres and next-generation agentic AI workloads.
The AGI CPU is built to handle the growing demands of agentic AI systems, where multiple AI agents operate continuously, coordinate tasks, and make real-time decisions. In such environments, CPUs play a critical role in orchestrating workloads, managing memory, and enabling seamless communication between systems.

Developed in collaboration with Meta as a lead partner, the processor is already gaining traction across the AI ecosystem, with companies like OpenAI, Cloudflare, and SAP exploring its deployment for large-scale AI infrastructure.
One of the key highlights of the Arm AGI CPU is its rack-level performance efficiency, delivering more than 2x performance per rack compared to traditional x86 systems, according to Arm. This improvement is driven by high core density, better memory bandwidth, and energy-efficient architecture tailored for AI workloads.

The processor is based on the Arm Neoverse platform and can scale to thousands of cores across data centre deployments. In advanced configurations, systems powered by the AGI CPU can support tens of thousands of cores per rack, enabling massive parallel processing for AI tasks.
This launch also signals a broader strategic shift for Arm as it expands beyond IP licensing into full-stack compute solutions, offering partners flexibility to choose between custom silicon, subsystems, or Arm-designed chips.
With the AGI CPU, Arm aims to position itself at the centre of the evolving AI infrastructure ecosystem, supporting hyperscalers, enterprises, and startups as demand for scalable, energy-efficient computing continues to surge.
