AquaAirX Raises ₹12.5 Crore to Build Next-Generation Amphibious Robotics Platforms By Elets News Network - 29 January 2026

Deep-tech startup AquaAirX has raised ₹12.5 crore in seed funding to accelerate the development of its next-generation amphibious and underwater robotic systems. The funding round was led by Rainmatter, the investment arm of Zerodha, with participation from Prime Venture Partners, Wyser, and India Accelerator, signalling strong investor confidence in the young company’s technology and vision.

Founded in 2024 by Jitendra Kumar Purnmal Saini and Gouthami T S, AquaAirX is working on a new class of autonomous robots that can operate smoothly across air and underwater environments. Unlike conventional drones and underwater vehicles that function in isolation, AquaAirX’s platforms are designed to transition seamlessly between the two, addressing a critical gap in maritime surveillance, inspection, and reconnaissance.

The startup plans to use the fresh capital to strengthen its core technology, with a focus on autonomy, reliable air–water transition, advanced sensing, and secure communication systems. A portion of the funding will also go toward expanding the engineering and research teams, as well as testing and validating the platforms to defence-grade standards ahead of pilot deployments with strategic partners.

In addition to its amphibious drone platform, AquaAirX is developing a Hovering Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (HAUV) aimed at high-precision underwater inspection and monitoring. These capabilities are expected to find applications not only in defence but also in high-value commercial sectors such as offshore infrastructure, ports, and energy.

“This funding gives us the momentum to accelerate our vision of building truly indigenous, mission-ready autonomous systems that can operate across air and underwater domains,” said Gouthami T S, Co-founder and CEO of AquaAirX. She added that the company’s work aligns closely with India’s push for technological self-reliance in critical and emerging areas.

AquaAirX has already reached Technology Readiness Level 6, indicating that its core platform has been tested in relevant environments. The startup has also been selected for prestigious programmes such as Israel Aerospace Industries’ NeuSPHERE initiative and India’s iDEX defence innovation programme, providing early validation of its technology.

Looking ahead, the company aims to scale up trials, prepare for manufacturing, and enter both defence and commercial markets by 2027. Industry observers note that the funding round reflects a growing interest among investors in homegrown autonomy and robotics technologies that can address complex operational challenges while supporting India’s broader deep-tech and defence innovation goals.
