Yet, a startling statistic reveals that only 2% of companies have implemented firm-wide cyber resilience measures, as highlighted in PwC’s 2025 Global Digital Trust Insights. This gap is alarming, especially as cyber security concerns dominate the agendas of organisations worldwide.
A staggering 66% of tech leaders consider cyber risks their top priority for mitigation in 2024. In contrast, only 48% of business leaders share this perspective. This gap highlights the necessity for unified strategies across leadership levels.
The financial stakes are high. The average data breach now costs around US$3.3 million. The most significant threats include cloud-related incidents (42%), hack-and-leak operations (38%), and third-party data breaches (35%). These statistics illustrate the pressing need for businesses to invest in robust cyber resilience frameworks.
Interestingly, 78% of companies have ramped up their investment in Generative AI over the past year. However, 67% of security leaders warn that this technology has expanded their attack surface, creating new vulnerabilities that need to be addressed.
