NxtGen Named OpenAI Select Partner, Plans SpeedCode Coding Agent for Indian Engineering Teams By Elets News Network - 28 October 2026

Bengaluru-based NxtGen Cloud Technologies, which runs cloud, AI infrastructure and managed services for Indian enterprises, has been named an OpenAI Select Partner within the OpenAI Partner Network. The company announced the development on October 28, positioning itself as a local partner for organisations that want to move OpenAI’s frontier models from pilots into everyday business use.

The OpenAI Partner Network is a global programme through which partners build, sell and deliver solutions on OpenAI’s models and products. It brings together firms with industry expertise, delivery capacity and customer relationships, and gives them enablement and support to help enterprises turn AI adoption into measurable results.

Governance and local support as the selling point

NxtGen said it will help Indian organisations put GPT-6 Astra to work across more of their operations, using the model’s deeper reasoning and computer-use capabilities to complete complex workflows end to end. Its focus will be on the pieces enterprises typically struggle with when scaling AI: architecture, security, access controls, auditability and on-the-ground operating support.

“India’s enterprises need access to advanced AI together with the governance, local operating capability and accountability required to put it to work,” said A S Rajgopal, Managing Director and CEO of NxtGen. He added that the Select Partner status will help the company bring these elements together and support customers as they shift from experimentation to practical applications across their businesses.

SpeedCode: an India-focused coding agent

Alongside the partnership, NxtGen plans to introduce SpeedCode, a coding agent that it will own and operate. SpeedCode is being built on the open-source Codex CLI and OpenAI models accessed through the API, and is designed to take clearly defined software tasks and turn them into scoped, tested and reviewable code changes, while leaving developers in control of what ships.

Rather than a broad launch, the company intends to start with a controlled pilot. Customers will be able to measure accepted engineering work, completion time, quality and cost before deciding on wider rollout, an approach that reflects growing enterprise caution about proving the return on agentic AI before scaling it.

Why it matters

NxtGen describes itself as India’s largest sovereign cloud provider, serving more than 1,000 customers. It operates the SpeedCloud public cloud platform, SpeedCloud Supreme as an alternative to private cloud, and industry clouds for government and financial services, along with an AI portfolio spanning GPU platforms from NVIDIA, AMD and Intel. Its flagship high-density data centre campus sits at Bidadi, near Bengaluru.

The partnership pairs a global frontier-model developer with a domestic infrastructure and services player, a combination that regulated Indian sectors such as government and BFSI have been looking for as they weigh data control, compliance and accountability alongside access to the most capable models. With the Centre also preparing a consultation paper on AI regulation, offerings that build governance and auditability into enterprise AI deployments are likely to draw closer attention.
