HCLTech and OpenAI announce strategic AI partnership By Kaanchi Chawla - 30 June 2025

HCLTech

HCLTech has launched a multi-year strategic collaboration with OpenAI aimed at enabling large-scale AI transformation for global enterprises. This move marks one of OpenAI’s first formal strategic services partnerships with a systems integrator.

According to the company, HCLTech will bring its deep industry expertise and strong AI engineering capabilities to deliver scalable generative AI solutions in collaboration with OpenAI’s advanced models and tools.

As part of this partnership, HCLTech will embed OpenAI’s cutting-edge models across its own suite of industry-focused solutions and proprietary platforms—including AI Force, AI Foundry, AI Engineering, and specialized industry AI accelerators. This integration is designed to help clients modernize operations, enhance both customer and employee experiences, and unlock new growth opportunities.

The collaboration covers the entire AI adoption lifecycle—from assessing AI readiness to integration, enterprise-wide deployment, governance, and change management. HCLTech also plans to deploy ChatGPT Enterprise and OpenAI APIs internally to equip its workforce with secure, enterprise-grade generative AI capabilities.

Commenting on the partnership, Vijay Guntur, Global CTO and Head of Ecosystems at HCLTech, said:

“We’re privileged to partner with OpenAI. This collaboration reflects our dedication to delivering transformative AI solutions to Global 2000 companies and aligns with OpenAI’s spirit of innovation. Together, we’re enabling a new era of AI-powered transformation at scale.”

Giancarlo ‘GC’ Lionetti, Chief Commercial Officer at OpenAI, added:

“HCLTech’s strong industry knowledge and AI engineering expertise lay the groundwork for scalable AI innovation. As one of the first system integrators to adopt OpenAI’s technology to enhance efficiency and customer experience, they’re redefining industry transformation through generative AI.”

This announcement builds on HCLTech’s previous initiatives in the AI space. In June 2023, the company expanded its partnership with Microsoft to utilize OpenAI’s models—including GPT-3 and Codex—through the Azure OpenAI Service. That effort also included setting up a generative AI Centre of Excellence with Microsoft to create industry-specific, scalable AI solutions.
