Industry leaders discuss technology and innovations in governance, PSU sector

With an aim to throw light on new technology and innovations in various aspects of governance and PSU spectrum, Elets Technomedia hosted the second edition of the National Manufacturing Innovation Summit and 4th National PSU summit, in Pune on 20th June.

The event marked the presence of various industry and tech leaders who shared their views on a number of themes like Innovation in India’s PSU and Manufacturing sector, Innovation for better governance in the era of smart cities, Electronic manufacturing in India, and lots more.


Speaking at the event, Rajit Punhani, Chief Vigilance Officer, NTPC Limited talked about innovation led growth of India’s PSU and Manufacturing sector.

Ada Dyno, Mumbai Bureau Chief, Polish Investment and Trade Agency, India, also shared her views on the sameand explained how digitisation and technology was driving the sector’s growth.

Mona K Khandhar, Commissioner of Rural Development & Secretary to Government panchayats, Rural Housing and Rural Development Department, Government of Gujarat, shared her success stories and future plans how the department was working on tax return filing, regional languages, help desks, and more.

Meanwhile, Shweta Shalini, Advisor to the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra, spoke about GIS Mapping success and convergence of people participation of this programme. She added how technology can act as a backbone for understanding citizens’ needs.

AS part of the event, a series of panel discussions pondered over technology initiatives and their importance in smart cities, opportunities and challenges in electronic manufacturing sector of India and how technology was leading to industry transformation.

Speaking at the panel discussion that discussed innovations in smart cities, Prem Kumar Gera, MD , Gujarat Alkalies and Chemical Limited stressed why innovation was the key to any country’s development. He also talked about his company and how it succeeded by impressive team work.

Shekhar Gaikwad, Commissioner, Sugar, Government of Maharashtra, stressed the areas which had immense scope of innovation in the sugar industry.

Talking about initiatives in smart cities, Rajendra Jagtap, CEO, Pune Smart City shared the future plans of the government in the area. He shared how data exchange and analysis was playing an important role in making Pune smart.

N R Munirathnam, Director General, Centre for Materials for Electronics Technology (C-MET) spoke on Electronic Manufacturing in India: Opportunities and Challenges during the panel discussion.

Industry leaders were also awarded and acknowledged for their contributions in this regard.

Prem Kumar Gera, MD, Gujarat Alkalies and Chemical Limited awarded for Excellence in Corporate Governance.

Mona K Khandhar received the award on behalf of Rural Housing and Rural Development Department, Government of Gujarat for exemplary initiatives for rural development in Gujarat.

Rajit Punhani, Chief Vigilance Officer, NTPC received award as NTPC was recognised for Technological Innovation in PSU.

MS Kalshetti, Commissioner, Kolhapur Municipal Corporation was acknowledged for smart government initiatives by Municipal Corporation.

While, Nayana Gunde, Chairman and Managing Director, Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) acknowledged for Smart Transport Initiatives; Shekhar Gaikwad, Commissioner, Sugar, Government of Maharashtra awarded for good governance through technology.
