Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has launched the Cyient AI Skill Hub, a new initiative aimed at providing artificial intelligence and digital technology training to rural youth, with a focus on improving employability and access to future-ready skills.
The hub has been set up to offer structured training programmes in emerging technology areas such as AI, data analytics, automation, and digital tools. It seeks to bridge the digital skills gap by reaching young learners in rural and semi-urban regions, where access to advanced technology education has traditionally been limited.
Officials said the programme will work in collaboration with educational institutions, training partners and industry bodies to create a practical learning environment. Participants will receive hands-on exposure and certifications designed to prepare them for entry-level roles in the digital economy.
The initiative is part of a broader effort to expand technology education beyond urban centres and ensure that rural youth are not left behind as industries adopt AI-driven solutions.
An official associated with the programme said, “The Cyient AI Skill Hub will help young people from rural backgrounds gain skills that are increasingly demanded by employers in the digital and technology sectors.”
With the hub now operational, training batches are expected to begin shortly, opening new pathways for rural students to access careers in technology and innovation-driven industries.
